A Wonderful 8-Day Stay: 5/5 Review of The Seles

I spent 8 days in this hotel and it was wonderful!
We were greeted very nicely with a fresh coconut.

The rooms are spacious, with air conditioning, hot water, a large bed, a mosquito net, and a kettle with coffee and tea in each room.
The rooms were cleaned daily, and the water was replenished. Wi-Fi.

The staff was very nice and ready to help, fulfilling every request.

Every day there was some themed evening at the hotel, which added to the attractiveness without disturbing the rest.

Thank you!

Your Zanzibar Paradise Awaits!

The Seles Hotel in Matemwe is a property directly on the beach, composed of very comfortable Lodges/Bungalows.

Matemwe is a very quiet location and still a bit far from mass tourism, so if you are looking for rest and tranquility, it's the right place!

The staff at the property is very kind and helpful; the managers will always make sure to accommodate your requests.

The breakfast is good and plentiful.

An experience for those who want a vacation dedicated to tranquility, literally with "feet in the sand" from morning until night.

I definitely recommend it, and thank you for having us!

Great, relaxing venue

This a great hotel, suitable for those on a budget. It is really laidback and peaceful and great for anyone looking to get away from the stresses of everyday life. This is the second time my husband and I have used this hotel and since our last visit there is a welcoming new reception area. The rooms are clean and spacious. Would recommend this hotel to others.

You feel like a queen in paradise

The Seles is located in an absolutely quiet, blooming garden oasis directly on a miles-long beach. It is, thankfully, a small hotel whose grounds, with two pools in the middle of lush greenery, create an absolute paradise feeling. This feeling is especially enhanced by the always friendly and extremely helpful staff and management. Drinks and food are served at the restaurant, by the pool, or on the beach. A very competent "tour manager" who offers well-organized tours at a fair price (do NOT book with the 1000 providers on the beach!!) is on-site. The spa treatments were excellent, and in the evening, there are changing programs with live music, sometimes even a bonfire on the beach. Everything was simply wonderful and perfect.

Highly reccomended.

Highly recommended. This charming hotel is located directly on the beautiful, miles-long white sandy beach of Matemwe. It consists of bungalows situated right by the bar/restaurant and a nearby "Villa" guesthouse a few meters away. The rooms are neat and clean. Overall, it's a rather small hotel—thankfully. The staff is extremely friendly and always eager to fulfill every wish. There is no mass tourism here. It's the perfect place to relax. The food is delicious and there's something for everyone. We will miss the freshly made fruit juices. We were there as a family (with 3 children aged 11 to 16) for two weeks. It was a dream vacation for all of us.

Perfect stay in Matemwe

Everything was perfect! The room is spacious, with a huge bed and a mosquito net, and there's warm water in the shower. The room has tea and coffee with a kettle. The two pools are very pleasant, the restaurant/bar is great, and the breakfasts are delicious! Lastly, the staff is very nice.

A fantastic experience with great staff and great hotel

Our experience in this place was AMAZING! We booked the bungalow room on the private side of the hotel which has its own pool (shared with two-three rooms - when we went there we had it almost for our own as it was the end of the high season). The place was fantastic with a lot of privacy, two steps from the beach and great relaxing vibes! We stayed both at Matemwe beach and also at Jambiani in the north side and I have to admit that the most beautiful part was by far Matemwe beach as we could swim and it wasn’t as windy as on the other side. the staff was super friendly and helpful- we even forgot our cell phone in the taxi on our way to the south side of the island we called the hotel who had booked the car and they immediately helped us. The bar/restaurant was also a great experience for us, the breakfast had everything we needed and we also had lunch and dinner there which was also as good.

Lovely place, wonderful beach location, great staff.

A beautiful place on the beach, with very pleasant and professional staff. It's a simple vibe, very chilled, and in a great location for local dive shops.

The cocktails are excellent, especially 2-for-1 happy hour, 3-7pm. They have live music most nights but not later than 10pm, while I was there, so not intrusive.

The food is really good quality and value, and has a reasonable variety of vegetarian options. Breakfast is unpretentious and excellent quality and quantity; the coffee is particularly good.

The staff were all lovely, delivering very good service without fail, and going out of their way to help with particular needs. Special thanks to the manager who helped with my complicated requests to check in and out, around diving plans: she didn't have to be so accommodating but it was extremely helpful - thank you!

Good value for money

This was the second hotel we checked into on our vacation. Compared to the surrounding hotels, it's a bit more simple. The complex consists of two areas. The first houses the reception, bar, restaurant, a small pool, and the bungalows. Since there's almost always music playing, I think it's more for young people. They also offer a la carte breakfast. The second area is a bit further back and has its own garden with a pool. It was very nice and quiet here—perfect for relaxing.

Seles - the perfect place to relax

The perfect place to relax during the heat of the day. Lush vegetation and a great pool. The cabins were clean, comfortable, well presented and reasonably priced. The service was excellent - a big shout out to Jovin and Mariam who made us feel so welcome. The food was delicious and they also have wonderful live music. Would stay there again in a heart beat.

Graet Vibration

The music every night is great! You can organize any tour from the hotel with Mr. Cheaper, the original. He’s willing to negotiate. It was my birthday and somehow it got known, I got a special cake and they sang for me. The staff was very lovely, Violet was such a kind person. The deck on the beach is great. Drinks were delicious! Of course there’s people on the beach trying to sell you things. You can easily say thank you and move on. I got a custom necklace made with a nice salesman. Less busy than other place. The internet was the fastest encountered yet, I work while travelling so that a must.
